An award-winning, versatile writer, I have been around the block, and offer a wealth of know-how in national newspapers, magazines, books, radio, television and corporate communications.
My writing flair embraces news, features, interviews, analysis, comment, news releases and scripts. Topics I have covered include current affairs, people, product, technical, legal, government, business, transport, aviation, motoring, motor sport and travel.
My range also extends to media relations, event and project management, creating web content, live radio and dubbing TV voice-overs. And my eye for photography enables me to provide a complete package of words and pictures on, for instance, a travel theme.
A sociable, effective communicator with lively, relevant ideas, I relish solving problems, and I am equally at home working under pressure in newsrooms or on my own initiative in the field.
I am self-disciplined, deadline-conscious and news-aware, and I take a keen interest in world affairs.
One legacy from my time running news stand and corporate magazines, supplements, projects and news and subs desks is that I am effective at briefing writers, photographers and designers. My computer skills embrace PCs, Apple Macs, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Front Page and Publisher, in addition to QuarkXpress, Adobe Acrobat and various image editing applications.

I have had two books published, and I am working on a third.
My assignments have, for example, involved descending diamond and gold mines as deep as 3,000 metres, crossing the Sahara half a dozen times, experiencing chilling Arctic winters and travel to more than 60 countries - as far afield as Africa, North and South America, the Middle East, Russia, Japan and Europe.
My many interests include art, aviation, books, classical music and jazz, conversation, cooking and wine, countryside, cycling and walking, historic buildings, history, hot air ballooning, motor racing and rallying, rugby union, theatre and cinema, travel, geography and wildlife.
