Freelancers By Skills

Freelancers offer skills in a wide variety of fields – historically, editorial skills encompassing journalism, writing, editing, proofreading, abstracting, indexing, have lent themselves to the freelance lifestyle.

With an upward trend in outsourcing business skills, the freelance market has expanded to welcome professionals with experience in Financial, IT and Design so that our skills categories now include consultants, financial coaching, book-keeping, illustrators, calligraphers, ergonomic specialists and IT software providers. The health and holistic therapy market has also seen a massive surge in people retraining to offer spiritual, physical and mental refreshment reflected in the healthy number of members populating this section! The more the merrier, we say.

These skill areas should make it easier to allocate yourself to a particular category if you’re currently a freelance professional – for those of you seeking freelancers with specific skills, these categories will help you to identify professionals meeting your criteria and requirements.

Sometimes it can be difficult to organise skills accurately. We have an inherent and illogical dislike of miscellaneous (feels like a dumping ground for things that can’t be neatly packaged up and assigned) hence the Trade category which includes self-employed careers such as plasterers, builders, and plumbers.

Do let us know if you’d like us to amend, alter or improve the way our categories are structured. We aim to work in the way that best suits our audience and will tailor our website to accommodate this where possible. It’s an evolving beastie.
