I am a skilled and highly experienced copy editor and an Advanced Member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders and work for both publishers and corporate clients. I offer copy-editing, substantive editing, editing English written by non-native speakers and on-screen proofreading. I edit anything from books and magazines to business literature. I specialise in financial editing but have experience of a very wide range of subjects.

My background
Writing is in my blood and comes as naturally as breathing to me. At the tender age of 16, I left school with a handful of “O”s and started training to be a journalist on a Scottish listings magazine. I lost my job when the magazine went bust before I completed my apprenticeship. Undeterred, I took a job as a junior copywriter in an advertising agency, before moving on to become a press officer for a community arts group in Leeds, where I also moonlighted as a feature writer for now-defunct listings magazine, Leeds Other Paper. My years in Leeds included a career break to study for a BA in English.
A three-year spell in London as a sub-editor for a number of consumer and trade publications beckoned before I headed to the bright lights of Paris and Amsterdam, where I worked as an investigative journalist, a corporate communications specialist and an editor. I turned freelance on my return to the UK.
